The MiniQube has been engineered with simplicity at its core. Unlike traditional battery systems, it can be connected directly to a standard wall socket*, removing the need for complex wiring or lengthy installation processes.
This makes it an ideal solution for apartments, retrofits, or customers looking to adopt energy storage without major electrical works. Whether used to capture excess solar generation or optimise time-of-use tariffs, the MiniQube provides a fast, accessible entry point into home energy storage.
The MiniQube can be used without a meter, with a wired meter, or with a wireless meter (coming soon) depending on the installation setup required.
The MiniQube can be self-installed by plugging into a wall socket* and configuring the app. It can be used as a hybrid with PV input (4 x MPPT) or as battery-only storage system.
The MiniQube can also be used with a wired meter, available now, for more advanced control and conventional scheduling. A wireless meter is also under testing.
The MiniQube can be used with or without a meter, depending on the level of control required. Without a meter, it supports simple charge and discharge scheduling, while wired and wireless meter options (plug-in wireless meter is under development) enable more conventional control and scheduling and allows for integration with 3rd party aggregators.
The MiniQube isn’t limited to fixed installations. Thanks to its integrated plug socket, it can also operate as a portable power source – delivering up to 1.2kW of output wherever it’s needed.
Whether you’re heading off on a camping trip, working remotely, or simply need backup power in a different location, the MiniQube can function like a high-capacity power bank. Just plug in a device or extension lead directly into the unit and access stored energy instantly – no installation required.
This dual-purpose design adds another layer of flexibility, allowing the MiniQube to move with you and provide reliable power both inside and outside the home.

Feature availability may vary depending on your device and app version.
The UK energy landscape is evolving rapidly, with recent government announcements signalling increased support for plug-in solar and storage technologies. However, at present, clear and formalised guidance for plug-in battery systems remains limited.
Until regulatory frameworks are fully defined, the MiniQube should be installed in accordance with existing UK electrical and grid compliance standards. This includes installation on a dedicated circuit and adherence to ENA Engineering Recommendation G98 requirements where applicable.
Installers and users should always follow current wiring regulations and seek appropriate approvals where required. As the regulatory position develops, Fox ESS will continue to provide updated guidance to ensure ongoing compliance and best practice.
